DOT and FAA Finalize Rules for Small UAS

FAA's Commercial Drone Compliance with Part 107 Expected This Year

Today, June 21, 2016, TheFederal Aviation Administration has finally released operational rules for small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). A summary of the new rules can be viewed in an Adobe Acrobat PDF athttps://www.faa.gov/uas/media/Part_107_Summary.pdf.

According to the FAA website:

“Today, the Department of Transportation? Federal Aviation Administration has finalized the first operational rules (PDF) for routine commercial use of small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS or ?rones?, opening pathways towards fully integrating UAS into the nation? airspace.”

The new rules go into effect in late August 2016.
