This new drone uses an attached GoPro or Sony UMC-R10C camera to survey a typical construction site in around 20 minutes. The drone-certified pilot controls the Solo from a tablet device then uses special Autodesk software to process the data and compare to construction plans. The resulting map can be converted to 2D or 3D formats, depending on your specific needs.
The Federal Aviation Administration is expectedto release its commercial regulations sometime in Q2 of 2016, so this comes at a very strategic time. Competition in the commercial drone space is expected to increase rapidly, so 3D Robotics was wise to be jumping in early.
