Plan Your Mission with Earth Survey for Google Earth

Earth Survey Screen CaptureWhen most of your research is completed and you?e ready to set up the field work, one of your early considerations could be, ?o I already have control in the area I can use??You start by checking your old records for any previously established control in the area. If you can? find any, you may need to set your own points. Better yet, is there a chance there are any USGS or NGS monuments you could you can use? Metzger + Willard, Inc. in Tampa, Florida have compiled several simple, quick and easy solutions you can use to search for any type of monument within Google Earth.

This is one of their web based searched tool called NGS Control Stations (NGSCS). The program overlays the benches onto your Google Earth Map. You can search in a radius, a rectangle, or by a county. See sample search above.
