Doesn’t that just make you pucker up a little?
if you zoom in a bit, you can see Chevy Chase working his way up the dam face. He climbed Hoover Dam a while back. “Free Solo”, pssht!

Nice view! I’ve never been to the bottom only stood on the top.
Excellent! Love seeing these posts. Thanks for sharing.
T. Nelson – SAM, LLCI get torn between the man-made beauty of the dam/ upstream reservoir and the untouched “canyon” lands described in Zane Grey books (stuff I’ve never experienced). Interesting dichotomy.
What happened to your old avatar?
When I retired a year ago, Mrs. File thought I should adopt a more subdued look. I figured she was right, so the pork eating crusader got retired too. Haven??t replaced it here yet….
@stlsurveyor- we went down into the bowels of the beast to hook up trace wires for some locates. THAT was cool! We actually walked thru a room, under the big pipes spilling in the video. As in under neath, reach up and touch them – they were covered in condensation, and that room was pretty cool, temperature-wise. And really LOUD.
The ops engineer who was our guide/ babysitter while on site said that the spill is running at 10%. The last time it ran at 100% was 1954, and it scoured the opposite bank to bedrock and washed out the road on this side. Amazing design and construction work. All without a calculator, P6, or environmental permits…
How’s the fishing? 🙂
