When you can look at old surveying equipment, (Transits, compasses, chains, tapes, field books, etc) and after a few hrs, go back to sleep, feeling like you have done a days work!

…you can recall surveying down the median of an interstate freeway with relatively little concern at the time, for errant/distracted drivers.
The only superior evidence is that which you haven’t yet found.When you retrace a survey you did 25 years ago for another company and don’t realize it until you’re halfway through the job.
