Who'd like to go compare a R10 to a Javad?
Posted by nate-the-surveyor on October 26, 2017 at 7:55 amI have the Javad. But not the R10.
I’m curious, just to see them run in similar environment. If you have one, and are curious, let’s go do it.

Poplar Bluff, MO? We have an office there and I work down there quite often. Or Pocahontas, AR?

Be sure to eat a Rancho Bravo Mexican Restaurant north of the river on the east side of Rock n Road Hwy. 67. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had.
I’d like to know how they do with public RTK network, specifically under partial tree canopy. I believe Missouri’s DOT has one.

Rule of thumb is that they’ll never do as well as with a local base. Basically if your public network had Net R9s broadcasting on CMRx and you’re using an R10 you’d be good to go. But I think that is pretty rare still.
Davidsonville Historic State Park?

https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/louisianapurchase/For what I do RTK is plenty accurate and have no need for base/rover. If I need precision, I break out the robot. You just can’t beat the efficiency of grabbing a rover and go!
A couple more ideas for “THE TEST SITE”:

Can I bring my Viva GNSS GS 12?
I hope everyone has a great day; I know I will! What we are looking for in a site, is a good open place for the base stations. (We are not testing the base stations ability to work in the woods!)
A good pine, and a good oak forest, for some test pegs.
Any surveyor who can suggest a site, in the Pocahontas area, will work for me.
I don’t know suitability of sites up there. So, IF anybody can chime in, it would be great.
We can make something work. But, having an ideal site picked is better.
I am 4 hrs from Pocahontas.Nate
Dan, both of those are too far west. We want it to be on the route, between Little Rock, and Poplar Bluff.
Bald Knob Refuge (Near Searcy AR) has photos with it. I think it would work. There’s alot of stuff around Poplar Bluff.
I’m open to suggestions.
NRadar, bring your viva.
We want to test in such a way, as to really see.N

This State Park is just south of Pocahontas…look at the photos…open sky for base and plenty trees.
DDSMI’d be interested, Nate!

DDSMThis looks like a nice place. We can pitch a tent too. Would Nov. 11th work as a possibility?

Davidsonville Historic State Park looks like it will do nicely.
I want to pick 2 dates, 2 wks apart. IF the first one gets rained out, then we use the second one.
Here is what is there:

I’m a surveyor, so I am comfortable most anywhere… Except at the dentist or doctors office!

The place is fine with me. Camp, fish, canoe, sip of moonshine by the campfire – oh and GPS too. I can drive down on Friday Nov. 10th and leave out on the 11th? in the PM.
