Tick bites aren't the only thing that can alter your habits for the rest of your life.  As a young man I was bitten by a female red-haired mattress thrashing bed bug (the deadly dancing variety).  I haven't been able to drink tequila since then...

Ah! A dose of reality!

Surveying is more than a Job----it is a passion to provide a foundation for future generation, that is beyond reproach.

Would you care to elaborate on the Redhead (conchita bonita) you were in bed with?  😉

I hate to admit it (actually I don't) as surveyors we learn to be pretty f'ing rugged people, (aside from the "smarts"), in this situation I would have probably gone back for seconds. 🙂 Now I need to wipe the cache clean because if my wife ever see's this, I'm pretty much a dead man. 🙂 Have a great night.

Amen, Brother Paden.  That variety of insect is extremely dangerous for a long list of reasons.

Waiting to watch a commercial featuring a Rhode Island Red chicken saying. "Eat mo' beef."  Yum!!!!!!

I worked on a ranch in Austin that was being cut into itty bitty lots. We were running the center line routes and cross sectioning for design. 4 man crews with the saw running most of the day.

When you stepped out of the truck you could watch the ticks start up your legs instantly. We sprayed ourselves with agricultural (cattle) type tick repellent. You picked a dozen off at the end of a good day.

About 6 months in I woke up for work feeling rough. Tried to shake it off but the next day was worse. My legs began to turn purple then my eyes went yellow. At the hospital they thought I was a street junkie until they found a few ticks I had missed and got the story.

Those little buggers can kill you. The best thing you can do is cover up and seal points of entry to clothes followed by whatever bug juice works in your area. If youre 100 miles from home get local advice...

I just read an article a couple days ago talking about a little girl who was temporary paralyzed from a tick that was still on her. I guess it’s only 2 breeds that can do it, but more common in little girls due to the fact of missing them in their longer hair. Super freaky though if that would have happened to either if my kids. Makes me that much more paranoid about ticks!

PETA Set to Release Meat-Allergy–Inducing Ticks in Northeastern U.S.

A PETA conspiracy?

Another rather disturbing tick related story in the news affecting us up north.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

My wife has this allergy from a tick bite. It has been life changing for both of us. She cannot eat it, and I don't eat very much red meat anymore either because she cannot.

That was an April Fool's Day prank, not a PETA conspiracy. Perhaps you should look at the date of the article.

You people really are afraid of vegetarians. They look just like "normal" people so I guess it's hard to tell otherwise.

Boo!

Tell me NMRN why it is that vegans have to take everything so seriously. They have no sense of humor when it comes to the subject. Is this possibly a consequence of their diet? Hmmm. Food for thought.

I, for one, am not afraid of vegetarians, every vegan I have seen looks like they are malnourished with one foot in the grave. Y'all can have that trend, I'll take a grilled NY strip steak with fries and home growed yeller baby squash anytime!   😉

And Ketchup too.

....and Ketchup too.

You can keep the ketchup...but I for one enjoy preying on the blood and tender flesh of all the meek and lesser creatures on the Earth, particularly mammalian.  But I'm not prejudice..Friday fish fries and a piece of fried chicken or two every no and again are good too.

OK.  I'll admit I do eat ketchup on my fried taters. 😏
