Ring Ring – is it me?
This all started yesterday:
Late last year I was preparing a proposal for a homeowner in the next county to the west of me. His situation is a bit complicated. After digging a bit, I realized the work required to do what he needed did not fit within his budget. We decided to part ways and I suggested he find a local surveyor. I never finished the proposal.
Yesterday I received an email from him asking where was I? I had promised to perform the survey last week.
An email reply telling him he was confusing me with someone else resulted in his apology, as that is what happened.
Then there was a call from Bob, who expected me to know who he was.
I did not.
After a bit, we determined his last name, and where he lived, a street on the other side of town. Bob wanted me to come back to reset the two stakes the neighbor pulled. Only thing was, I do not recall ever doing any surveys on his street. Check the master list, nothing comes up. He tells me he has a map with my name on it.
Now I??m wondering, am I starting to lose it? Did I do a job and forget to put it on the list?
I drive to his house so his wife can show me the map. I’m wondering: is someone using my name on their maps?
Nothing looks familiar.
Mrs. Bob comes to the door with the map. It is from another surveyor one county over. Done in the late 90s, but I did not start working here in Dutchess County until 2003.
Next to the other surveyor??s name in the lower left corner, is my phone number.
In pencil.
And he called me again this morning, asking me to come and set the two missing corners!
Is it the full moon?
