Position Description for an RLS
I need to prepare a ‘position description’ for my position that defines all that I do and my responsibilities and I’m finding it to be a bit of a challenge. One of the aspects to this profession that keeps it fresh from one day to the next, for the most part, is what we do as land surveyors covers so many different disciplines. Geodesy, geography, geology, drafting, history, boundary law, research, data management, communication, logistics, strategist, travel and working under adverse conditions, cheer leader and schmoozer. How in the world do you condense this profession into a few short paragraphs?
In creating this position for myself and I need to define the following.
Summary
Specific Tasks
Education
Work Experience
Supervision
Effect of error
Job Scope
Independent Judgement
Working Conditions
I’m likely not the first to need to define what we do as land surveyors and we all likely have a somewhat different take on things, but any ideas or examples would be welcome. I’m clearly going to need to give this some careful thought so as to keep it concise and on point.
Thanks
