How To Translate Control from Network to Local.
I have FC-5000 Data Collector running Pocket 3D with Hiper V Base/Rover and Network access too. I used to have a Surveyor helping/teaching me on the how to’s, but unfortunately everything comes to an end. I think i can recall the workflow he used before, but not certain, it went something like this..
I’ll launch the base from a unknown point and save it to project, then begin to hunt for the control points to localize the project. I’ve been told that is best for the control points to be covering the whole jobsite, meaning if you draw a line connecting CP to CP.. the jobsite should be surrounded from all sides[] I’ve also seen Control Set in a straight line . . . . Which from experiece gives bad errors after localizing. Back to the workflow.. After localizing I’ll switch over to Network (known Projection/datum and Geoid model) making very detailed descriptions I’ll go back to the control points I used for localization and shoot them. Then I’ll go to the location Where I believe is Best to set my very own Control Point. I’ll Stake a HUB then shoot my new control point. I would then send all that info to him and he was able to send it back to me with the CP I shot with network now being translated to Local coordinates. I Guess I just Don’t know how to properly Translate Control and seeking how to. I know is probably easy as 123 but hey i’ll appreciate any help!
