and then there are days like today
the stress of getting this one out the door woke me up early this morning. had the coffee ground and the water boiling and sat down to the laptop at 5:45 a.m. aside from the 45 minutes driving a couple 8th graders to school, i think i stepped away four times- three of those to take a leak and once to warm up last night's pizza for lunch. just emailed off the prelim for review about 10 minutes ago.
by my count that's a net of, oh, 13.25 hours of drafting and examining title today. i know for some of you that's S.O.P., and i know some dudes who've done it like this for years (oh wow, that just made me realize- good buddy who was one of them died 9 years ago today). but i'm sorry- i hope this never gets to be more than about a semi-annual event for me. if that.
at least the fee will buy a few beers...
you are getting stressed over 13 hours of work?
sitting on one's kiester staring at a monitor for 13 hours straight sucks. maybe not for everyone, but certainly for me.
i have more 13 hour days on the horizon than i can count. and i'll take 'em. because the vast majority of them are going to be days outside. you know- working...
45 minutes with 8th graders can take a toll on one's mental attitude. 🤪
It's been the worst day since yesterday. Flogging Molly
That song always helps me feel better along with copious quantities of good beer or bourbon.
