From a perfect resolution stand-point, I’ll have to admit “no,” I have not obtained a fix for the issue with the Geoid model in your location of the world. I further have to admit that when I was replying to you back on 30-Mar-2020, I was attempting to CC VP of Product Development Dave Carlson but because we were dealing with geoids, I felt it prudent to reach out to SurvCE/SurvPC Product Development Director Sarah Winter to get her insights but that communication didn’t happen until a day later. It turns out, I dropped the ball and only CC’d one of my regional technical support agents of the suspected issue back then. This one is on me and I apologize.
However, I’ve also been advised that my regional Sales counterpart for your area has attempted to contact you several times by phone to discuss/review the problem but has not been able to reach you. I’ve also been advised by my counterpart for your region:
We need to be really careful with this [geoid].
The old Geoid Separation is very different to the new Geoid Separation.
The old file is very coarse.
The new one is finer and is an attempt at resolving many years of disputes about levels in [the region].
I did offer a revised geoid file to my counterpart in your area based on what I presume was the issue at hand so he could do some boots-on-the-ground testing as my ability to validate anything is basically non-existent in my corner of the Midwest U.S. My on-going suggestion is to continue to use the Technical Support line ([email protected]) and reference any previous case number as applicable until resolution. I have, however, re-elevated this issue to all parties mentioned (including members of Carlson Machine Control). If you have the means to contact your local, Carlson sales representative, he should be able to provide you with some additional insights prudent to your area.
