Trimble Business Center Line Feature Coding & Layering
Hi All
I’m undertaking asbuilt surveys/drawings for a detention dam project using TBC/AutoCAD and have encountered an issue related to layering of line features.
I will be producing AB’s for various different elements i.e. enviro controls, drainage, embankment, foundation etc. I need to separate out each element within the same job in TBC (so far I have >10,000 points in this job).
I cannot seem to create a string feature code which applies the same designated layer to both the line AND the points which describe it. I’ve got the feature code table process down tight and have set up the layering/line types in a manner which suits my workflow. However, when I process the line feature codes in TBC, the linework comes through in the correct layer, but the points describing the line comes through on a generic ‘points’ layer.
While I can manually designate layers to points, subsequent imports and code processing resets any edits (despite selecting ‘maintain edits’ during import). It also screws up my ability to create selection sets and isolate layers or groups of layers because all the line points are on the same layer.
I have a feeling my grasp of TBC coding may be the issue :-/ . Any ideas/suggestions?
Many thanks in advance.
