OPUS XML use
Posted by BigE on January 20, 2018 at 9:21 amDoes anyone use it or is still using my program to process the data?
I’m wondering should I revisit my program and continue any work.

Yes and no.
YES: I believe a healthy portion of OPUS solutions request the XML, but don’t have recent logs handy. OPUS makes good use of the XML internally for the sharing and projects options, and despite having some minor quirks, the format hasn’t changed.
NO: NGS is contemplating a whole new database, and is convening a workshop with vendors this spring to talk about product / format evolution. Their latest tools like NCAT use the more compact geoJSON format, OPUS is considering adding geoJSON too.
Can you remind us about this program of yours?
Yes, it is a very handy tool. You should post it again for those on the “new” board that are not familiar with your software routine.
It could use some updating, if you feel interested.
- It would be more user friendly if you could embed the style sheet(s) into your software.
- Needs to work with both OPUS static and OPUS-RS
- Shorten the amount of steps to auto export a txt file of coordinates.
- Allow for appending, or updating coordinates to an existing txt file.
- Add feature to create or convert txt to a kml format and launch Google Earth.

As for the NO part, a different data base won’t matter so long as it outputs XML. My program won’t care.
JSON is another matter. I can’t throw a JSON payload at an XSLT and let it render.

1. I thought I did.
2. I also thought I am doing OPUS static and RS.
3. ok
4. I’ll consider that
5. I’ve looked into that already but got nowhere. Our friend in the netherlands hit me up about it.
I guess I’ll restart the project then.
I cant find my project or the install project anywhere.
Can someone tell me the exact name of the package or the exe file?
I would hate to start all over again.
I bumped a couple old threads to the top that may help.
Sorry to clutter the forum but links are too tricky on phone.
