Machine control in virtual machine
Posted by layho on November 12, 2018 at 6:18 pmDoes anyone know of machine control vendors that supply their software as a virtual machine (appliance – vmware, virtualbox, azure,…) ?
That would allow to test certain things and make a dry-run of your DTM’s, models, etc… before sending it out to a machine.

Yes, nearly all vendors have a simulator.
What flavor are you running?
There are much more effective ways to test a 3d model for machine control.
Are you a contractor or a surveyor?
Leegreen, as a contractor I’m currently using 3D-MC for the machines and Magnet Field for the GNSS/TS (Topcon)
SiteVision Office from Trimble has it but SVO is no longer available since everything has moved to TBC. I still have it on a 10 year old laptop but I doubt that I would ever be able to transfer the license to a new computer.
James
A Trimble product is not going to for Topcon.
3D Office is a free software.

I agree, but the original poster did not specifically state he was using Topcon.
My bad, it is in a later post.
Thanks for your suggestions
I tried the simulator in 3D-office a few times, it can work to ‘test’ a model but I was also thinking about a virtual machine to have a full environment equal to the one the operator has on his machine (e.g if you need to give telephone support and don’t have remote access to the machine)
Currently I’m trying to nail a problem where I’m missing a specific context menu in the machine on a simple 2D plan. (“Steer to polyline”).

I have had simulators of Leica Icon and Trimbles GCS900 software but not sure if Topcon offer this. If your dealer won’t help you could try LinkedIn.
