Did the GPS week roll over get me?
We have a Topcon HiperII system that is about 8 years old. We run them with data collectors using Survey Pro, version 6.4.1.19, which should be the newest. My past experience and from the info supplied from a dealer I can’t upgrade the firmware in the GPS receiver because I’m not using Topcon data collection software. If I do upgrade the firmware, it just won’t work, it goes autonomous. When this happened I rolled back the firmware and it worked.
So not long after the rollover, but I’m not sure if it was immediately after the rollover a couple of weeks later I started having problems. The units would stop using, and sometimes even tracking Glonass, and then it started dropping GPS birds also. A reboot of both the data collector and the GPS unit will fix it. Sometimes it will work fine for two days, sometimes I’m rebooting twice a day.
Any ideas if its the week roll over or are the units on the way out? We have a new system coming but I’d like to keep using the old system as needed.
