CS20 WI-FI problems
Posted by ekillo on November 28, 2020 at 2:24 amMy CS20 has started having trouble connecting to an AT&T hotspot, it will still connect to Verizon. Is there a firmware up that improves the windows wi-fi connection?
TIA

I had the same issue with T-Mobile hotspots WI-FI connection and was told that on Apple devices in latest software version 14 a new security features were added which are created additional problems communicating with CS20.
I thought the only option I have would to go to SIM and pay for data plan.
However I decided to upgrade CS-20 software to the latest Captivated 5.5 version (was planning to do it anyway) where WLAN was added to Captivated the issue was gone. So instead connecting via CS-20 windows there is an option to select internet as a WLAN in settings.
P.S. I can’t guarantee it would work for everyone (AT&T, etc.) so this is just my personal experience working with T-Mobile and iPhone 12.
Greg.
I’m able to tether to my CS20 using an AT&T previsioned S10 phone. I’m on v5.5 going through Infinity.
P.s. I can not speak for the prior versions of Infinity since I tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago.
I have managed to get my CS15 to connect to a Samsung A11 phone on the AT&T network, but not the CS20, both will still connect to the Verizon Mi-Fi.
I did have trouble with the Wi-Fi on the CS20 when I first got it, but from Captivate Version 3.2 and later I have not had any problems until now. I am running Captivate 5.5 on the CS20 and will have to give WLAN a try, just do not want to mess up my Verizon connection and be completely dead. Does the WLAN connect by WI-FI or cellular? I have not tried to connect to the iPhone 12 yet as it is on Verizon, but I have tried to connect to a Samsung A11 on AT&T without any luck. We have an excellent VRS in North Carolina as long as you can get cell coverage which most of the time I can get by using either AT&T or Verizon. I did not mention in my original post that I also have a CS15 that also stopped connecting to the AT&T hotspot (still connects to the Verizon Mi-Fi), but will now connect to the Samsung A11 on AT&T. My laptop will still connect to the AT&T hotspot, the AT&T phone and all Verizon devices.
I survey for new cell towers and need the ability to connect to both the Verizon and AT&T networks because if I am surveying for a new Verizon tower then they may have poor coverage in the area and vice versa for AT&T.
I didn’t know what CS20 meant so I googled it and came up with a shoe, golf ball, case skins, sweaters and kobalt replacement key.
Nothing surveying related, finally I tried CS20 surveying and got the Leica data collector.
So many acronyms.
My bad, I had seen the CS20 discussed here so many times that I thought that anyone that could help me would know what I meant. I saw the same thing when I was trying to find some help on the internet.
