I noticed mention on the NGS home page that there was a surveying competition between teams from the US and the PRC. The  NSPS was involved as well.

I was curious whether anyone had any more information about the event. I checked the ESPN schedule and did not find it.

I got word back from Brent Howe of the NGS. While the US surveyors did well in the practical part, the PRC surveyors excelled in the theoretical parts and won overall. I wonder if the NSPS will do a write-up?

This whole thing is super interesting to me?  Was this a "Surveying" competition or a "Measuring" competition?  I know nothing about how the PRC is setup regulation wise but were there PLS's on the American team?  Tongue in cheek...I wonder which team was the most profitable? ? ? ? ? ?

This was from Mr Howe’s reply to my query: “The US team was mostly composed of members from the National Society of Professional Surveyors ( https://www.nsps.us.com/default.aspx&source=gmail&ust=1544731575474000&usg=AFQjCNFIP6RQ63c3McbpI7b41tE7RhvVk g" data-removefontsize="true" data-originalcomputedfontsize="16"> https://www.nsps.us.com/default.aspx ), with a nationwide representation (we had team members from Ohio, Nevada and Long Island New York) but naturally more surveyors from Virginia and Maryland.  The Maryland and Virginia surveyors were also members of their respective state wide surveying associations...”

I do not know how an international “surveying” contest emphasizing law and property issues could work. Nor how a 50-state US wide competition would.
