Never heard of such a critter. Had to Google it. No oil wells in New England, so there's no surprise. Fifth item on the Google search was a 300 page doctoral dissertation.

I can't wait to read this.

I have met a few (very few actually) "Landmen" that were pretty damn good, even really good.

On the other hand, I have met many who were...well...

Herb

Your mileage may vary.

I know lots of them, a mixed bag like any profession. I wouldn't want to do it.

I'm asking to help convey information to a younger colleague who mentioned a " surveyor" had asked for help researching some easement title issues, and was coming up short on any answers.  I got the email chain and found out he wasn't a surveyor, but a landman.  And I agree.  Most I've had contact with were like Herb. or Worse.  A few were even attorneys.  Sharp and very cagey, and knew their stuff. Was very cautious around this version.

Thanks for any feedback, its part of the collective learning experience I enjoy seeking through this place.  Carry On......
