Looks like we go back to the old equipment…
I hope everyone has a great day; I know I will!Need to buy a shovel – Made in America.
Maybe with imported steel
I remember when we manufactured stuff in America and then came NAFTA and it was like a slow motion train wreck of factories closing all across the south (and probably everywhere).
It is difficult to find everyday items made in America but it can still be done and I do it as much as I can. Some items I buy (like electrical tape) I would never think would be made in China but sure enough I thought to look when I got home and all I could do was cuss.
Look on the used market, craigslist, many state society Web sites have a page to list items for sale, ebay, etc..
What’s even worse is we are constantly being told our equipment is outdated, we can’t get parts we can’t get batteries anymore etc. etc. The dealers are milking us!
Yes – here in NY, if you want to sell your unwanted survey gear on NYSAPLS website, it’ll cost you a minimum of $50 to advertise, after you pay over $300 for the privilege of belonging to that exalted organization.
Oddly enough, there are no items listed for sale today……..
The US has been importing steel from UK and Germany for over 50 years.
The final product may have been American made but the raw material was from somewhere else.
Just like Italian made dry pasta. The durum and semolina wheat comes the US.
I bought a bag of rocks recently. Made in China!
A close friend of mine owns a commercial HVAC company. He told me a few weeks ago the trade situation with China has made it more profitable to buy American made sheet metal. I won’t comment on the socioeconomic impacts of that but I found it very interesting to hear.
Dealers – No
Manufacturers – Yes
